World Heritage Site Transformed Into Art (Shimogamo Shrine, Kyoto)

Team Labo, the creative brains behind the illumination art exhibition, Future World: Where Art Meets Science, held this March in Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands, is back again with a new project, this time in Kyoto’s Shimogamo Shrine!
Enchanting Illumination in a Forest
Staying true to their creative roots, Team Labo intends to transform the World Heritage site into a mysterious fantasy world. Trees on the sides of the shrine’s entrance path are covered with bewitching lights, which have sensors attached to them and change colors and sounds when visitors walk pass them, as if alluring them into an enchanting forest. As the lights react individually and propagate the effect, visitors are made aware of not only their own interactions with their surroundings but also the presence of other visitors.
As visitors reach the tower gate, there will be a control sphere where visitors can freely change the colors and sounds emitted by the lights from the entrance path all the way to the inner parts of the shrine.
Come and experience for yourself a different side of Kyoto, where technology meets tradition! You’ll never see shrines in the same way again!
