Beautiful red autumn leaves are the trademark of Kyoto’s autumn. In Kyoto’s city centre, where most of the land has been developed, a lot of these autumn trees are concentrated around shrines and temples. But if you prefer more nature and less man-made structures, Hozukyō Gorge – located slight outside of the city by Katsura River – is the place for you.
Trees stacked like cotton candies above mountain chains turn into gorgeous hues of red, orange and yellow, presenting an awe-inspiring sight for all to see. If you’ve already been to Kiyomizu Temple last year and want to explore new places, hop onto Saga Tram Rail and delve into Hozukyō Gorge!
