Beautiful red autumn leaves are the trademark of Kyoto’s autumn. In Kyoto’s city centre, where most of the land has been developed, a lot of these autumn trees are concentrated around shrines and temples. But if you prefer more nature and less man-made structures, Hozukyō Gorge – located slight outside of the city by Katsura River – is the place for you.
