Chapel in Kyoto

Being in the business for over 40 years, we have built up a large collection of kimonos ranging from unique vintage pieces to modern numbers.
Wedding kimonos can be divided into 3 broad categories: Shiromuku, Irouchikake and Hikifurisode.
Shiromuku is an all-white kimono, and is said to be the Japanese version of the Western wedding gown. The white color symbolizes purity and innocence.
Irouchikake is similar to Shiromuku in that a robe has to be worn on top and over the obi, a waist sash used to hold the kimono in place. The obi is hidden under the robe. Gorgeous embroidery and patterns on the Irouchikake symbolize everlasting bliss, which makes it suitable for glorious celebratory events like weddings.
Hikifurisode is a kimono that shows the obi. Embroidery symbolizing happiness is also sewn onto the Hikifurisode, not unlike the Irouchikake. By pairing the outfit with a matching obi, you can create your own unique style with a flattering silhouette.
